Offenburg is located approximately halfway between Karlsruhe and Freiburg, on the edge of the Upper Rhine Graben.

Offenburg has excellent transport connections in the south-west of the Federal Republic of Germany thanks to the A5 motorway and the ICE connection of the Deutsche Bahn as well as well-developed east-west connections both by rail and road. France and Switzerland, the Black Forest and Alsace can be reached quickly from here.
